Un argomento cruciale nel settore degli additivi per polimeri è la loro conformità con le normative

delle principali autorità di regolamentazione,

come negli Stati Uniti d'America, USA

l'EPA (Environmental Protection Agency),

il GSRS (Global Substance Registration System),

la FDA (Food and Drug Administration)

e nell'UNIONE EUROPEA, USA-  l'EFSA (European Food Safety Authority).


I polimeri sono alla base di molti prodotti che utilizziamo quotidianamente, dalle confezioni alimentari ai dispositivi medici, dai componenti elettronici ai giocattoli. Per migliorare le loro proprietà e garantire prestazioni ottimali, spesso vengono aggiunti additivi specifici. Questi additivi possono migliorare la stabilità UV, prevenire la degradazione ossidativa, conferire proprietà antimicrobiche, migliorare la resistenza al fuoco e migliorare le proprietà meccaniche dei polimeri.


Tuttavia, la scelta degli additivi polimerici non è semplice.


Alcune Autorità di regolamentazione, ammettono l'applicazione ora di alcuni additivi, ora financo determinandone le percentuali e gli ambiti.


L'EPA, ad esempio, regola l'uso di additivi per garantire che non presentino rischi per l'ambiente e la salute umana.


La FDA  e l'EFSA in Europa stabiliscono norme precise per gli additivi utilizzati nei materiali a contatto con alimenti, garantendo che non contaminino il cibo e siano sicuri per il consumo umano.


Il GSRS fornisce un sistema globale per la registrazione delle sostanze, facilitando il monitoraggio e la gestione degli additivi a livello internazionale prendendo a riferimento il settore dei medicinali. Orbene, molti medicinali sono anche ingeriti e pertanto coinvolgono anche il cd. settore alimentare.

Tuttavia possiamo notare che alcuni additivi, per esempio ammessi per la FDA, non sono inseriti nel GSRS e viceversa.


Non tutti gli additivi devono essere inclusi negli elenchi specifici delle autorità di regolamentazione per essere considerati sicuri e conformi.


Alcuni additivi, pur non essendo esplicitamente elencati in detti Data Base, o pubblici registri possono comunque essere utilizzati se soddisfano i requisiti di sicurezza e conformità stabiliti dalle normative vigenti. Questo significa che, attraverso adeguati test e documentazioni, è possibile dimostrare che un additivo polimerico è sicuro per l'uso previsto, finanche a contatto con gli alimenti, anche se non incluso specificatamente.


La scelta  degli additivi polimerici deve essere attentamente vagliata attraverso una selezione accurata, uno studio costante  possiamo assicurarci che i nostri prodotti non solo soddisfino gli standard di qualità, ma siano anche sicuri
